David M. Schizer is Dean Emeritus and Harvey R. Miller Professor of Law & Economics at Columbia Law School. Named dean at the age of 35 (the youngest in the school’s history), he served for ten years (from 2004 to 2014). David also served as CEO of American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, a leading Jewish humanitarian organization, for three years (from 2017 to 2019).
A leading expert on nonprofits, he is the author of “How to Save the World in Six (Not So Easy) Steps: Bringing Out the Best in Nonprofits.” David also serves as co-chair of the Columbia Center on Israeli Legal Studies, as well as of the Richman Center for Law, Business and Public Policy. He was recently named a co-chair of Columbia’s antisemitism task force.
