Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Temple University, Mrs. Portnoy began pursuing a graduate degree in Psychology before opting instead for a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education at Beaver College (currently Arcadia University). Mrs. Portnoy recently earned a second MEd in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Cabrini University. Utilizing both her elementary and mid-level math teaching certificates, she held a variety of positions in public and private schools over the span of two decades. For the majority of her career, Mrs. Portnoy taught in a suburban Philadelphia school district at the fifth grade and middle school levels, first focusing on gifted education, and then on middle school math. Mrs. Portnoy left the public school system to become one of the founding faculty members of Kohelet Yeshiva Middle School, where she taught math and science while also working to align our math curriculum with Kohelet Yeshiva High School’s. As every Middle Schooler will tell you, Mrs. Portnoy’s humor, her love of sports, and her deep belief in every child’s ability to soar, make her a beloved member of the Middle School team. In addition to her role in our Middle School, Mrs. Portnoy teaches 4th grade math and helps us bridge the math curriculum from our Lab School to our Middle School and beyond.
