Barry Kirzner

Barry Kirzner has been on the Kohelet Yeshiva faculty since the school’s inception and was the recipient of Stern Hebrew High School’s Founding Educator’s Award in 2004 and Kohelet’s Distinguished Educator Award in 2016. He earned a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business, an M.A. from the Annenberg School for Communication, and a teaching certificate from the School of Education, all within the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Kirzner worked as an IT management professional for 13 years before his career in education. He completed his student teaching in, and worked for, the School District of Philadelphia. He also taught at the Midrashah Hebrew Junior College in Cherry Hill for over a decade. Mr. Kirzner has filled many roles both at Stern and Kohelet, having served as the first athletic director, parent newsletter editor, computer and AV support provider, senior projects coordinator, and economics teacher. Mr. Kirzner was Director of College Guidance for eight years while continuing to teach history, and currently chairs the History Department. During the 2015-2016 school year he coordinated Kohelet Yeshiva’s efforts to secure accreditation from the PAIS and Middle States Association. Two daughters, Yakira ’07 and Dalia ’12, are graduates of Kohelet.
