Dr. Jack Maguire
Dr. Jack Maguire holds a Doctorate in Education from Columbia University, a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Villanova University, a Master’s in Reading from St. Joseph’s University, and a B.A. in History and English from La Salle University. Before joining the Kohelet faculty, he was the Supervisor of Humanities Curriculum for secondary schools in the Lower Merion School District, responsible for curriculum development, professional development, selection of curricular materials, and hiring teachers. He has taught at local colleges and universities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Peirce College, Drexel University, St. Joseph’s University, and Rosemont College. He also supervised student teachers at La Salle University. Dr. Maguire has extensive classroom experience, having taught English and humanities at Upper Darby High School for a decade and English at Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Pennsylvania for over twenty years. While at Cardinal O’Hara, he developed curricula for a number of courses both in literature and in writing and served as English Department chair.
