Aftercare and Clubs

Aftercare

 

Extended care runs from 4-5pm Monday-Thursday. On days with early dismissal (Monday-Thursday) there will be one additional hour of care (i.e., if dismissal is at 1:00 pm, there will be aftercare from 1:00-2:00 pm on that day).

 

There is an option to sign-up is for the whole year or just part of the year. There is no extended care on Fridays, the day before Thanksgiving, during Chanukah, Erev Shavuot, or the last day of school.

 

KYLS Clubs Descriptions

 

We believe that a well-rounded student should have the opportunity to explore his or her personal interests in depth and with proper supervision and encouragement, and we are pleased to offer an array of after-school clubs in order to help further that goal.

 

Mondays 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12

 

LS Time Flies Circus (2-5) - $224

Time Flies Circus is a club that will teach a range of circus arts including, acrobatics, clowning, equilibristic, creative movement, prop manipulation, circus games and theater exercises. In the club, communication skills are experientially developed and risk-taking curiosities are played out in a safe and controlled environment. Whether learning to juggle three balls, or practicing focus and balance on a tightwire, circus works both mind and body.

 

LS Running (3-5) - $25

Running is an after-school program designed to inspire students of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength. Lessons emphasize the important connection between physical and emotional health. Students will be building up their running stamina and, at the end of the program, will complete a 5K, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment, setting a confident and goal-oriented mindset into motion.

 

Please note this club will be outdoors. Any weather related changes will be shared with parents as early as possible.

 

LS Sewing with Amanda Parashar (4-5) - $160

Have you always wanted to sew? Learn basic hand sewing skills and sewing buttons on to make a small pouch/purse and then learn sewing machine basics and make a pillow or stuffy. Then we will learn about a variety of materials and design our own project using up-cycled materials. New and returning students are welcome.

 

Tuesdays 10/25, 11/1, 11/15, 11/22, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13

 

LS Chess with Premier Chess (K-1) - $140

Premier Chess is excited to offer an after school chess club at Kohelet Yeshiva on Tuesdays. Chess has been shown to help improve critical thinking skills, spatial analysis and non-verbal reasoning. Our chess program endeavors to encourage focus and develop concentration while having fun! We will teach basic strategy and get students to represent the school at tournaments.

 

LS Art with Rachel Katz-Passow (2-3) - $140

Art club is a time for students to dive deep with the art materials they love the most.  There will be lots of choice so that each student can develop their own artistic practice, along with more one to one individual guidance. For students who are interested, there will also be special projects offered each class. Expect to see a range of options like woodworking, stone carving, jewelry making, printmaking, painting, felting, weaving, sewing, game making and more! Get ready to get messy, and creative!

 

LS Music (2-5) with Joshua Burgos - $140

Afterschool Music Club will focus on the Performing Arts, including dance, music, and theater. The club members and Mr. Josh will collaboratively decide on a group project and work towards a final project idea at the club's first meeting. Final project ideas could be performing a play, forming a music & dance ensemble, or rehearsing short play scripts of interest and performing our favorites! Potential club members are encouraged to discuss ideas amongst themselves and Mr. Josh before the club first meets.

 

LS Penn Coding with Fife-Penn CS Academy (4-5) - $0

This free after-school program is where students learn how to code and join a group of supportive peers and role models. It gives students a safe and supportive environment to learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis for all programming languages. The club is led by computer science students from Penn Engineering, University of Pennsylvania.

 

Wednesdays 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14

 

LS Outdoor Sports with Coach Phil (2-3) - $120

Sports club will give students an opportunity to experience a variety of team sports and games outside on the field (Rain makeup date: Wednesday, Jan 10). We will encourage sportsmanship, teamwork and fun! Will include, but not limited to Basketball, Soccer, Kickball, etc.

LS Cooking Club with Chef Rav Yaakov (K-1) - $140

K-1 budding chefs can learn beginning cooking skills while making delicious snacks, desserts, and meals every week. This class will guide budding cooks through simple and at times complex recipes and cooking techniques, with a new recipe each week. The recipes will either be no-bake, finished during the Chug, or designed to be placed into an oven (by the parents or supervising adults) after class.

 

LS Mishmar with Rabbi Wilensky (4-5) - $0

Join other boys and girls for a pizza dinner and a fun-filled Torah learning experience each Thursday. Lab School will be learning Hilchot Shabbat. We look forward to seeing you!!
