Student Support
Our Learning Center team consists of several specialists trained to support students in math, reading, writing, Judaic Studies, and executive functioning. The specialists work throughout the year with students who have identified learning needs and stay in touch with classroom teachers and parents regarding recommendations and accommodations. Dr. Lea Keil Garson is Director of the Learning Center.  Any specific questions concerning educational testing, learning support, accommodations, or modifications can be directed to Dr. Garson at lkgarson@koheletyeshiva.org.

Mrs. Sara Kalish is the School Counselor and is available to speak with individual students about a variety of social, emotional, or psychological issues. Students can refer themselves or be referred by teachers, parents, or staff. She can be contacted at [email protected].  Mrs. Kalish also assists students who are absent for a prolonged period of time and works with students who struggle with executive functioning and organization.

WRITING AND STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, MATH) CENTERS

The Kohelet Writing and STEM Centers are open daily during lunch periods and provide help to students on a drop-in basis. Teachers from the Science, English and Math departments staff the centers on a rotational basis. Both Centers offer one-on-one assistance to students at all levels. The Writing Center helps students with writing assignments in all subjects, from English to Science to Judaic Studies. Teachers help students with research techniques, brainstorming, revisions, reviewing for exams, preparing presentations, and college essays. The STEM Center is a great place to review for an upcoming quiz or test, clarify a new concept presented in class, or consult on a challenging homework assignment.
